So the story goes...

The school is owned and managed by Iidil Rahmah Bte Abdullah and her husband John Robert Bartholomew; currently located in Kampung Sungai Orok. The school primarily draws its catchment from Lambak Kanan and Muara districts however we do have enrollees from further afield.

Tinkerbell Learning School commenced operation in January 2003 as a preschool, offering Kg1 -3. By 2005 another building in the simpang was acquired to secure our primary school license to commence years 1 to 4.

In the same year we opened our SPED department in response to many requests by parents approaching us with children withspecial needs. In 2007 we expanded our license to take up primary years 5 and 6. In 2007 the school converted into a Sdn Bhd company with Director Hjh Normah Bin Haji Said as our local partner. A few years later the school introduced two more Directors: Hjh Norsinah & and Mdm Nhomie Roxas, our school accountant.

Our Ethos Statement

Acquiring knowledge – Nurturing potential – Building self-confidence, encompasses our

school philosophy

Acquiring knowledge

begins with nurturing in a child a curiosity to inquire about the world around them to understand why things are the way they are. By providing learning opportunities that arouse awareness and curiosity about the world around us, a child will build a catalogue of knowledge with the capacity to conduct their lives with insight, understanding and wisdom.

Nurturing potential

is ensuring a child’s natural capacities are given every opportunity to flourish. This however is a challenging task in any traditional educational environment for the following reasons: - In primary schools where curriculums are generally prescribed, the outcomes of learning are determined in advance regardless of a child’s innate potential; - Prescribed curriculums in turn require a child’s progress to be judged in terms of age, grade norms, and prescribed standards that are used to measure and assess a child’s performance in that curriculum which may not represent where that child’s interests and abilities lie. - To decide a child’s potential based on a ‘prescribed body of knowledge’ is not a trustworthy basis for deciding a child’s ability as to whether they are smart or intelligent or indeed, what they are capable of. The SPN 21 curriculum however, provides a curriculum framework that can be used by schools to develop and implement their teaching and learning programs according to the needs of their learners. This presents a unique opportunity at TinkerBell to devise programs to observe, document, and interface with the children to determine their interests and abilities. We want to nurture the abilities and potential the teacher sees in your child, along with the interests your child reveals to us as something they would like to explore. We also invite parents to bring these interests to our attention.

Building self-confidence

is providing a path to self-empowerment and strength of character. We encourage the children to be confident in coming forward with their ideas; presenting them in front of the class; and coming away from the experience with a sense of achievement with pride. It is about ensuring that the knowledge acquired and the potential nurtured has a conduit for growth and development in the learning journey into secondary education.
